The Verdict: Clear Path
You fit Argentina's pensionado or rentista residence, so proceed. Start by getting your pension certificate or income records legalised or apostilled, then apply online through RaDEX.
Pensionado covers a pension from a government, an international organisation or a former employer for work done abroad. Rentista covers income from assets held abroad: financial instruments, property or a stake in a business. The evidence differs, so apply under the one that matches your income.
The income must reach Argentina through authorised Argentine banks or financial institutions. Check the current SMVM again before you file, because it changes often and the threshold moves with it.
You will also need a criminal record certificate and proof of address. Residence is granted for a year and is renewable.
Two years of continuous legal residence then qualify you to apply for citizenship. Citizenship applications moved back to the federal courts in June 2026, so check the procedure when you get there.
