Possible

One fact needs establishing before this goes further: whether your partner has sponsored a partner for an Australian visa before, and when.

The limits are strict. Two partner sponsorships in a lifetime, and no more than one in any five-year period. Both are counted from the date the sponsorship application was made rather than from when a relationship began or ended, and a sponsorship counts even if the visa was later refused or the relationship did not last. So the relevant history is of applications lodged, which is not always how people remember it.

Your partner will know whether they have done this before, and if the dates are unclear the Department of Home Affairs holds the record and will release it to them. It is worth establishing before you invest in assembling a relationship file, because it changes whether the application can be made now, in a few years, or only with a waiver.

Where a limit does apply, waivers exist for compelling circumstances — children of the relationship, the death of a previous partner, or a previous relationship that ended outside your partner's control — so a previous sponsorship is not automatically the end of it.
