The Verdict: Clear Path
You can apply for the Working Holiday visa (subclass 417). Apply online through Home Affairs before you travel, with your passport, evidence of funds and health cover.
The 417 needs no education, English test or government letter. It gives you twelve months, the right to work for any employer, and limited study.
Age is tested when you lodge, not when you arrive, so if you are close to your limit, lodging is what stops the clock.
Specified work in defined regional industries unlocks a second and then a third year. The postcodes matter as much as the job, so plan it from the start if you want to stay longer.
This visa does not lead to citizenship. Australian work experience gained on it can count towards the points-tested skilled visas.
