You have a Brazilian somewhere in the family, which is the part that matters most, and Brazil puts no generational limit on descent. What is not yet established is whether the people between you and them have ever been recognised as Brazilian — and that is what decides who applies, and in what order.
This is a documents question, and it is usually answerable in an afternoon. What settles it is a Brazilian birth certificate, a consular birth registration, an old Brazilian passport or identity card, or a transcription into a Brazilian registry, for each generation in the line. Where a generation has nothing, they are not disqualified: they are simply the person who has to be registered before the next one can be.
