From what you have told us, your birth has already been recorded by Brazil — either at a consulate or transcribed into a Brazilian registry. That registration is the recognition. You are a Brazilian citizen by birth, and have been since the day you were born.
What is left is documentary. You need a current certified copy of that Brazilian birth record, a CPF number, and then a passport. If the registration was made at a consulate and never transcribed into a Brazilian registry, that transcription (traslado) is usually worth doing, because it is what Brazilian offices inside the country ask for.
