The distinction that decides this route is a single one, so it is worth setting out plainly: does a Brazilian organisation want you specifically, and will they say so on paper?
That is the whole test. Every route in this category runs through a Brazilian counterparty — a university or research institute offering a post, a club or company offering a contract, a public body or programme backing a project. Your own record, however strong, is not a basis for residence in Brazil by itself.
What counts as backing: an appointment or invitation letter, an employment or services contract, a funded research position, a formal commitment from a public body that a project serves a Brazilian interest. What does not: interest in principle, a collaborator who likes your work, or a connection with no institutional commitment behind it.
If the answer turns out to be no, that is not the end of Brazil — it just means the talent routes are the wrong ones. The remote work route asks nothing about your profession, only US$1,500 a month from foreign clients or US$18,000 in savings.
