Brazil's working holiday route only works where there is a bilateral agreement, because the law requires the other country to grant Brazilians the identical benefit. Without one there is no visa to apply for, whatever your age or circumstances — so this is a closed door rather than a difficult one.
The agreements in force are with Germany, Australia, South Korea, France and New Zealand. A programme with Japan comes into force on 1 December 2026. If you hold one of those nationalities as well as the one you had in mind, that is worth mentioning, because a second passport decides this entirely.
Otherwise, the routes into Brazil that do not depend on nationality are the ones to look at, and for someone young and mobile two are realistic.
Remote work for an employer or clients outside Brazil: residence on proof of US$1,500 a month from abroad or US$18,000 in savings, with no age limit. For most people who were drawn to a working holiday, this is the closest equivalent and it lasts longer.
Study in Brazil, which is a residence ground of its own, and counts as lawful residence towards naturalisation.
Nationals of most South American countries also have a residence agreement needing no job offer and no funds threshold.
