Citizenship by Descent in Colombia

The Verdict: Not eligible

Without a Colombian parent, or a birth in Colombia, there is no descent route for you. Colombia's residence visas are the way in.

Colombian nationality by birth comes from a Colombian father or mother, or from being born in Colombia to a Colombian or to foreigners living there. Colombia has no route based on heritage, ethnicity or religion.

What works instead: our Skilled Migration, Retirement, Golden Visa, Digital Nomad and Marriage quizzes for Colombia cover the visas. Nationals of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay have a fast route through the Mercosur and Andean visas, covered in Skilled Migration. After five years on a resident visa you could apply to naturalise.
