Second Pass

Digital Nomad in Croatia

The Verdict: Not eligible

You do not need this permit: as an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen you can live and work in Croatia freely. If you stay over three months, register your residence with the local police administration.

The digital nomad route in the Aliens Act is for third-country nationals. Free movement lets you enter, live and work in Croatia without any permit.

Registration is light: proof that you are working, self-employed, or have enough means and health insurance. You receive a registration certificate.

After five years of continuous residence you can apply for permanent residence as an EEA national. If you have Croatian ancestry, look at our Citizenship by Descent and Diaspora & Religious Return quizzes, which can reach citizenship without residence.
