The Verdict: Need More Info
Your position turns on one date: whether your relative lost Egyptian nationality before or after the next person in your line was born. Check it on the decision that ended it, then take our descent quiz.
If the loss came after the next person in your line was born, that person was Egyptian at birth, and the later loss did not take it away from them or from you.
If your parent had already lost it when you were born, you did not inherit it. Restoration under Article 18 helps only the person who lost it: a living parent can apply, and once restored passes nationality to children born afterwards, not to you.
If the line broke, Article 4 lets someone of Egyptian origin naturalise after five years living in Egypt instead of ten. Our naturalisation quiz covers it.
