The Verdict: Not eligible
France has no golden visa: buying property or making a passive investment does not give you a right to live there. Look at the visitor card in our retirement quiz, or the €300,000 business investor card in this one.
Depositing money, or investing in funds or bonds, gives no residence right either, and France has never offered citizenship by investment. A home you own helps only as proof of accommodation for another permit.
To live in France on your own means without working, the route is the visitor card. It needs income of at least the net minimum wage, currently €1,477.93 a month, health insurance and an undertaking not to work in France.
If you would put at least €300,000 into an active French business that creates or saves jobs, go back and choose that answer: the investor talent card is a real option.
