Diaspora & Religious Return in Greece

The Verdict: Not eligible

Every Greek diaspora route requires Greek descent, so none is open to you. Look at our Naturalization and Marriage quizzes instead.

Article 10 of the Citizenship Code, article 15 for the former Soviet Union, the Albanian omogeneis card under Law 2790/2000, and article 4 on military enlistment all require Greek origin.

Greek Orthodox faith is not a ground. Greece has no religious return law: membership of the Church, conversion or marrying into a Greek Orthodox family creates no claim.

The ordinary route is naturalisation after seven years of lawful residence in Greece, or three for EU citizens and for a spouse of a Greek citizen with a child together.
