Skilled Migration in Greece

The Verdict: Not eligible

You need no Greek work permit: as an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen you can live and work in Greece freely. Register as an EU citizen after three months, and look at our Naturalization quiz: EU citizens can apply after three years.

You can be employed or self-employed in Greece without a visa, permit or sponsor.

After three months, get a registration certificate for EU citizens from the police or migration service where you live, with your passport or ID and proof of work or sufficient resources and health insurance. It is the document that proves when your lawful residence began.

Article 5(1)(d) of the Citizenship Code cuts the residence needed for naturalisation from seven years to three for citizens of EU member states, plus the PEGP exam in Greek language and civics.

If your profession is regulated, you may still need your qualification recognised in Greece.
