Skilled Migration in Greece

The Verdict: Unlikely

Without a job offer there is no Greek work permit you can apply for, so the first step is finding a Greek employer to sponsor you. Check also our Citizenship by Descent, Retirement and Digital Nomad quizzes.

Greece has no points system. The single permit under Law 5275/2026 starts with the employer filing a recruitment application with a contract of at least six months; it runs three years and renews for five. The EU Blue Card also needs a job, at 1.5 times the Greek average salary.

The new job-seeker permit needs a master's degree or higher.

Other routes need no employer. Greek ancestry may give citizenship by descent. Passive income of €3,500 a month supports the retirement permit. Remote work for clients outside Greece at the same figure supports the digital nomad permit.
