Skilled Migration in Greece

The Verdict: Clear Path

With a job offer you can get a Greek residence and work permit. Ask your employer to file the electronic recruitment application, and check whether the salary qualifies for the EU Blue Card.

Law 5275/2026, in force from 6 February 2026, created the single permit: one application for residence and work. The employer files with a contract of at least six months (down from twelve), proof of financial capacity and a €200 fee per worker. Most categories have a 90-day decision deadline.

The ordinary permit (type E.4) lasts three years and renews for five. The EU Blue Card (type E.1) needs a salary of at least 1.5 times the Greek average gross annual salary, updated yearly, and a degree or, in some occupations, equivalent experience. It now runs three years at a time, with easier family admission and movement within the EU, so take it if the job qualifies.

Check whether your profession is regulated in Greece and needs your qualification recognised.

These are real years of lawful residence, so they count towards the seven needed for naturalisation. Our Naturalization quiz covers that end.
