The reform bites from 23:59 Rome time on 27 March 2025 and leaves earlier claims alone — those are still judged under the old law, which set no limit on how far back the Italian ancestor sat. It has to be a claim for you personally: a parent's or sibling's application does not extend to you. A claim that was refused still counts here, and may count for more than you think — one of the commonest grounds of refusal was overturned in 2026.
