Marriage in Morocco

The Verdict: Unlikely

There is no route through marriage until you are married, and then it needs five years of living together lawfully in Morocco. If you plan to live in Morocco together, it can open for you.

Article 10 of the Nationality Code lets a foreign woman married to a Moroccan man declare for Moroccan nationality once the couple has lived habitually and lawfully in Morocco for five years.

Make sure the marriage is concluded or registered in a form Moroccan law recognises, through the Moroccan authorities or a consulate, because residence and nationality both rest on it. Once married, you can hold the resident card for spouses of Moroccans.

Children of the marriage will be Moroccan through their father, wherever they are born.
