Naturalization in Morocco

The Verdict: Unlikely

Naturalisation needs five years of lawful residence in Morocco, so it is not open while you live abroad. Moving to Morocco on a residence card is what would start the count.

You must also still be living in Morocco when the decision is made.

The Code allows naturalisation by royal decree, without residence, of a foreigner who has rendered exceptional services to Morocco, but there are no published criteria and no way to apply for it.

If a parent or grandparent was Moroccan, check descent first: it passes through either parent with no limit on generations and needs no residence. If you plan to move, our Morocco retirement, skilled migration and golden visa quizzes cover the residence routes.
