Exceptional Talent in New Zealand

The Verdict: Not eligible

New Zealand has no talent visa for your field; its only open talent route covers art, culture and sport. Take the skilled migration quiz if you would be employed, or the investment quiz if you would back a business.

The Global Impact Visa pilot for entrepreneurs ended in 2020, and the Talent (Accredited Employer) Work Visa is closed to new applicants.

The skilled system scores qualifications, occupational registration or income, so senior researchers and well-paid specialists often score well. With a Green List occupation, a job offer can lead straight to residence; the list includes many medical, engineering and ICT roles.

Investment starts at NZ$1 million into an existing business on the Business Investor Work Visa, or NZ$5 million under Active Investor Plus.
