Second Pass

Retirement in Portugal

Is that income at least €920 a month for one person, plus 50% for a spouse and 30% per child?

The D7 threshold follows the Portuguese minimum wage, which rose to €920 a month on 1 January 2026 under Decree-Law 139/2025, and resets every January. Count every regular payment you receive and do not work for: pensions, rent, dividends, royalties and investment income, before tax, averaged per month. A couple is measured against the combined figure (€1,380). No rule sets a savings figure, but many consulates ask for savings on top, commonly about twelve months of the threshold; ask the consulate handling your application.
