The Verdict: Not eligible
The D7 is not for you, because remote work is earned income. Take the digital nomad quiz instead: Portugal's D8 visa is built for remote workers.
The D7 covers income you do not work for. Pay from an employer or clients abroad is still earned income, however far away they are, and holding a D7 while working remotely breaks its conditions and puts renewals at risk.
The D8 needs average income over the last three months of at least four times the Portuguese minimum wage, proof of the working relationship and proof of your tax residence. If you also have a pension or rents that reach the D7 threshold on their own, the D7 is still open to you.
