Retirement: the retired person's visa asks for a monthly income reported at around R37,000 from pensions, annuities, rentals or dividends, has no minimum age and runs four years, renewable.
Skilled Migration: an occupation on the critical skills list scores the 100 points a work visa needs on its own.
If you have a South African parent or spouse, check Citizenship by Descent or Marriage first; either beats a visitor's visa.
