Did you apply for Spanish nationality under the "ley de nietos" before it closed in October 2025?

The ley de nietos is the route created by the 2022 Democratic Memory Act, which let grandchildren of Spaniards claim nationality without living in Spain. It closed to new applications on 22 October 2025, and applications lodged before then are still being processed. If you did not apply, we also need to know roughly why your Spanish grandparent left Spain — the route was built for families who left as a consequence of exile, so the answer changes what you missed and what is still open.
