Second Pass

Golden Visa & Citizenship by Investment in United Arab Emirates

The Verdict: Not eligible

The UAE does not sell citizenship, and there is no investment that gives you the right to apply for it. Investment buys a renewable ten-year golden visa instead.

Since 2021 the Nationality Law (Article 9 bis) allows nationality to be granted to investors, but only by nomination from the rulers' courts, executive councils or the Cabinet. The official government portal says citizenship can be acquired "only through" those bodies. You cannot apply or put yourself forward, and no investment figure is published. Offers to arrange UAE citizenship or a "lifetime" golden visa for a fee are not genuine; ICP publicly denied one such scheme in July 2025.

What to do next: if what you want is the right to live in the UAE, an AED 2 million investment in property, a fund or a company gives you the golden visa. Answer this quiz again with the investment you have in mind.
