The Verdict: Not eligible
Every route back to Japanese nationality needs a home in Japan, so there is nothing to apply for while that is ruled out. The adult route has no deadline, so it will still be there if that changes.
Japan has no consular reacquisition and no restoration for people living abroad. The under-18 notification, the post-demand notification and naturalisation as a former national all need a domicile.
If a child in the family under 18 lost Japanese nationality for want of a reservation at birth, their route is far stronger, and it ends at 18.
If you are not sure you lost Japanese nationality at all, take our Citizenship by Descent route for Japan: emigrating and living abroad do not end it.
